Iwate: Hadaka-mairi

Hadaka-mairi, shrine homage paid by partly attired youths.

Schedule & Key events:
● Jan. 14 from 5:30 p.m.: Hadaka-mairi at Kyojo-ji Temple
● Jan. 15 from 4:30 p.m.: Hadaka-mairi at Morioka Hachiman-gu Shrine
● Jan. 26 from 4:30 p.m.: Hadaka-mairi at Sakurayama-jinja Shrine

Location: Kyojo-ji Temple, Morioka Hachiman-gu Shrine, Sakurayama-jinja Shrine, Morioka, Iwate


Access:
JR Tohoku Shinkansen Line to Morioka Sta. From there, (1) Kyojo-ji Temple: take bus to Morioka Shikaku-shien Gakko-mae Bus Stop, and then walk 5 min. (2) Morioka Hachiman-gu Shrine: take bus (for Chabatake) to Hachimangu-mae Bus Stop (15 min.) (3) Sakurayama-jinja Shrine: take bus to Moriokajo-ato Koen Bus Stop, and then walk 3 min.
