This exhibition brings together the work of a wide range of Indian architects and craftsmen, all resident artisans of Studio Mumbai, headed by Bijoy Jain, one of India's top architects.
Studio Mumbai is known for architecture that uses both traditional crafts as well as modern technology to create buildings designed to be at one with their landscapes. "Praxis" refers to the process of enacting and realizing something — the evolution of an idea into a practice. It also reflects how Jain's studio works: It's a space where the artisans, some of whom have never had formal training, learn from Jain and each other. Materials, sketches and models of the studio's work will be on display; till Sept. 22.
