Get involved in helping victims from the March 11 Great East Japan Earthquake while enjoying live music and art in the heart of Osaka.
Rise: Art and Music Charity Event for the Tohoku Earthquake is being hosted by a mix of Japanese and non-Japanese artists based in the Kansai area. The event will take place at Cafe Absinthe in Osaka's Shinsaibashi area and consists of live music, DJs, exhibitions and live painting that includes both drawing and a digital-art demonstration.
Live performances by five musicians will take place in the cafe's basement and lean toward funk, jazz and reggae. Meanwhile, DJs will accompany the artistic displays upstairs. During the night, visitors will also be able to participate in a silent auction for work by six of the artists.
The event is being organized by some of those participating, including Graphic Monkey designer Machiko Yamashita, Australian DJ and musician Dom Pang, and artist Daas.
All of the proceeds from the Rise event will go to disaster relief for the northeast Japan.
