Osaka's Keihan Electric Line might not seem like the ideal gallery space, but the city's Art Area B1 is hoping to change that.
"Nishino Travelers: Where is your destination?" is the first project of an art festival called Tetsudo Geijutsusai (railway art festival). For the first round, the project features an art tour of events taking place along the Keihan train line.
One of the highlights of the event is "Tatsu Nishino Ten" by Tatsu Nishino, an artist based in both Tokyo and Berlin. For the piece, Nishino has produced a large drawing about spots along the Keihan line, with sculptures humorously analyzing and reconstructing scenes and characteristics of the railway's stations through Nishino's perspective.
Yuichi Yokoyama's "Travel" should also attract some interest, as well as the Japanese and Indonesian dancers who are set to perform.
"Nishino Travelers: Where is our destination?" takes place at several venues along the Keihan Electric Railway from Oct. 22 till Dec. 25. "Tatsu Nishino Ten" will take place at Art Area B1 on the B1 floor at Naniwabashi Station on the Keihan Nakanoshima Line in Osaka. Yuichi Yokoyama's "Travel" will take place at two venues: Nakanoshima Banks CENTER-A in Nakanoshima, Osaka, and Antenna Media in Kiyomizu-gojo, Kyoto.
