Yayoi Kusama, the internationally famous Japanese artist, has drawn attention over her career with her avant-garde works and performances. However, in looking back on her career of more than 50 years it is clear the 1960's was a particularly stimulating period for her.
Watari-um is now holding an exhibition focusing on Kusama's activities in the '60s, when she visited such places as New York, Italy, Germany and Holland. Various performance artists worked in concert with her at that time, as her own style was developing.
Once seen, Kusama's impressive dot-painting and circle-motif works remain in the viewer's mind; till Nov. 27.
