Based on a popular manga series by artist Masahito Soda, "Shakariki" introduces the world of road-bicycle racing through a high-school bicycle team on the verge of collapse but which is revived when Teru (Yuya Endo), a cycling freak, joins. As amateur cyclist Teru learns the rules of this minor sport, so do the viewers, but that's the best you get from this seishun (youth) film. The young actors have clearly trained hard in the saddle to play their roles, but cardboard acting ruins it all.
