Super Dogs Carnival 2007, Japan's premier canine festival, will be held Sept. 1-2 at the Goodwill Dome in Saitama Prefecture. And the good news for us humans: we're welcome, too.

The highlight is the final of the 9th Eukanuba Cup Extreme Championship, a thrilling competition in which highly trained dogs run, leap, swerve and shimmy through an obstacle course. The best dog-owner teams to have won through regional competitions will be there to duke it out for the national title. The championship spans both days of the event, with the Miniature and Open categories on Sept. 1 and 2, respectively.

Other attractions to keep tails wagging include the Wan-wan Shopping Mall and the Dog Cafe. Organizers stress that owners may accompany their furry friends to both these venues, and non-dog-owners are welcome too.

Admission is ¥1,700 for adults and high-school students; ¥1,000 for primary school and junior high-school students; dogs enter free. The event runs 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day.
