Director: Claude Chabrol
In his latest feature, 77 year-old veteran director Claude Chabrol once again depicts his familiar territory: French bourgeois and a crime. A prim and serious young man, Philippe (Benoi^t Magimel) meets and falls in love with his sister’s bridesmaid, “Senta” (Laura Smet). But Senta’s morbid nature is gradually revealed — and she asks Philippe to prove his love for her by killing a stranger. Chabrol skillfully builds up a menacingly Hitchcockish atmosphere that slowly pervades the screen.
