Starring nonprofessional actors, "Bombon: El Perro" is a pleasurable little fable about a man and a dog in Patagonia. Juan, a middle-aged mechanic who has recently been laid-off, tries to make a living by selling handmade knives. His luck changes after he is given a hulking purebred dog, an Argentinian Dogo. Named Bombon, the canine's natural charisma attracts attention everywhere they go, so Juan decides to enter him in a dog competition. The movie doesn't deliver much surprises or excitement, but it is a sweet and humane story.
