For a sampler of art from New York, check out Nihonbashi's Onward Gallery.

The Big Apple's Viridian Gallery, an artist-owned cooperative based in the burgeoning Chelsea art scene, has sent over a diverse collection of 45 works by eight artists to exhibit along with the latest from their longtime Japanese collaborators, the mother-daughter team of Oi Sawa and Tazuko Fuji.

Ranging across nontraditional mediums (monotype, closeup photography, collage), the show nonetheless follows and updates traditional movements.
