WASHINGTON -- Jeanie Naumann, manager of Wagging Tails Thrifts and Gift, says she can hardly believe it herself. It seems she just had to open the store, and the donations, volunteers, customers and profits started rolling in.

Vermont festival has quilters in stitches
NORTHFIELD, Vt. -- The joy of quilting must be implanted in women's DNA. What else can explain the cheerful excitement of the 24th Vermont Quilt Festival? My friend and I encountered very few men at New England's oldest and largest annual quilt show, but lots of high-spirited women. Together they created a happy, upbeat ambience, as well as that peculiar sense of unity that is only possible among those sharing the same passion.

Tea goes down well in Washington, D.C.
WASHINGTON -- A beautiful Japanese tea room emerges as one enters and goes down the hall in Katherine Lyons' and Austin Babcock's spacious brick house. In this quiet neighborhood in suburban D.C., Lyons, or Soshu, her tea name, teaches the Urasenke tradition of chanoyu. The house has been Urasenke's D.C. branch since 1998.

Diving enthusiasts have no doubt heard of Belize, a sliver of land bordered by Mexico in the north and Guatemala to the west, for its spectacular barrier reef. The Caribbean reefs, located on the eastern side of the island, offers endless walls and undulating coral ridges. It stretches a few hundred kilometers and comes second in size only to Australia's Great Barrier Reef.
