Tokyo stocks broke another record Tuesday, the eighth in under two months, and passed the 45,000 mark for the first time ever, extending a rally supported by rate optimism and hopes for political change.
The benchmark rose as high as 45,055.38, breaking the last record of 44,888.02 reached on Friday, the most recent trading day.
Tuesday’s high is the fourth record so far in September and follows four records in August.
