Toshiba Corp. said Monday it has won a ¥7 billion order to supply four steam turbines and generators for Kenya's largest geothermal power plant.
A consortium of Toyota Tsusho Corp. and South Korea's Hyundai Engineering Co. won a contract with Kenya Electricity Generating Co. to build the power generation facility, and Toshiba was selected by Hyundai to supply the turbines and generators for the project, Toshiba said.
The company will provide four 70,000-kw steam turbines at a power generation plant in the Rift Valley about 100 km northwest of Nairobi, the company said. The plant is scheduled to start operations in April 2014.
