Albirex Niigata have appointed their former coach Fumitake Miura as the new manager for next season, the J. League first-division side announced Monday.

The 46-year-old played for the likes of Yokohama Marinos and Jubilo Iwata during his career before going into coaching, spending two years at Niigata from 2013. He managed AC Nagano Parceiro in J3 this past season.

"I believe Niigata's soccer is one that works hard both in offense and defense, with everyone fighting for the win. I'll aim to develop quick soccer based on that," Miura said in a statement released by the club.
