The Hanshin Tigers said Tuesday they will not renew their contract with infielder Mauro Gomez, who spent three seasons with the Central League team.

Gomez, 32, was the league's RBI king in his first year in NPB in 2014 with 109 RBIs, but had only 79 this past season with a batting average of .255, his lowest in three years.

"We had big expectations of him as a third-year foreign first baseman but he didn't live up to them," said Eiichi Takano, the team's head of baseball operations. "We weren't quite satisfied with his results."

During his time with the Tigers, Gomez had a .270 average with 65 home runs and 260 RBIs in 425 games.

Hanshin also said it will not re-sign right-hander Cody Satterwhite, infielder Matt Hague and outfielder Nelson Perez.
