Former major league reliever Shigetoshi Hasegawa will serve as senior adviser to the Orix Buffaloes, the Pacific League team announced Monday.
The U.S.-based Hasegawa will primarily advise Orix on acquiring foreign players starting from Nov. 1, the Buffaloes said.
"It's important to sign good players, but equally important to look after them after you've signed them," the former Seattle Mariner and Anaheim Angel said. "I want to support them on both fronts."
Hasegawa pitched for the Orix BlueWave from 1990-96 before joining the Angels.
