Sanfrecce Hiroshima midfielder Koji Morisaki will retire at the end of this season, the reigning J. League champions announced on Thursday.

The 35-year-old Morisaki has spent his entire career with Hiroshima since joining them in 2000 and was a member of Japan's Olympic team at the 2004 Athens Games.

"I feel sad but I have arrived at this point having given it my all so I think I can retire with no regrets," Morisaki said in a statement.

As of Thursday, Morisaki, whose twin brother Kazuyuki also plays for Hiroshima, has made 257 appearances in the J. League first division, scoring 40 goals.
