Yokohama BayStars first-year manager Alex Ramirez will continue on with the Central League ballclub next season, team owner Tomoko Namba said Thursday.

Namba said she formally asked Ramirez to remain in the post for the next year of his two-year contract with the team and the 41-year-old Venezuelan accepted.

This season, Ramirez has helped the team secure a top-three finish in the CL for the first time in 11 years and claim a spot in the Climax Series for the first time since the postseason event began in the CL in 2007.

"He stays calm no matter what happens and the spirit in which he treats the fans well matches the thoughts of management," Namba said. "He's a good commander."

Namba said Shigeru Takada will also remain as the BayStars' general manager next season.
