Madonna Japan won its fifth straight Women's Baseball World Cup on Sunday, beating Canada 10-0 in the final behind a two-hit shutout by right-hander Ayami Sato.

Japan took the only lead it would need in the second on an RBI single by catcher Chihiro Funakoshi. The defending champs put the pedal to the metal in a five-run third, that featured a two-run Funakoshi double.

From the start of group play, Madonna Japan improved to 8-0 in the seventh edition of the biennial tournament. Japan finished runner-up to the United States in the first two World Cups.
