The Tokyo Yakult Swallows suspended closer Logan Ondrusek on Monday for abusive behavior toward the coaching staff after Sunday's game, manager Mitsuru Manaka said.

Working with a three-run lead in the ninth inning at Jingu Stadium, the Chunichi Dragons loaded the bases with one out on a double, a single and a walk. The Dragons tied it when a single got past left fielder Wataru Hiyane.

Ondrusek, in his second season with the Central League club, was said to be enraged when he returned to the bench, using abusive language toward the team staff and his teammates.

The pitcher, who played in 281 major league games over five seasons with the Cincinnati Reds, was told to remain at home for the time being.

The Swallows went on to win the game in 11 innings and sweep the three-game series.
