Japan Under-23 captain Wataru Endo is set to miss the team's last home game before the Rio Olympics against South Africa in Nagano Prefecture on Wednesday due to an elbow injury.

The Urawa Reds defender damaged ligaments in his left elbow in Reds' 3-1 win at home to Vissel Kobe in the final round of J. League first-stage matches on Saturday but he will remain with the Under-23 squad at its camp.

Meanwhile, Masashi Kamekawa's groin issue is not thought to be serious and the Avispa Fukuoka defender will join the squad for training from Monday.
