Japan defender Maya Yoshida said Wednesday he is uncertain of how things will be at Southampton with manager Ronald Koeman reportedly on his way to Everton.
"The manager might change and I don't know how things will turn out for me," Yoshida said, a night after Japan lost 2-1 to Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Kirin Cup.
Yoshida, who turns 28 in August, made just 20 league appearances this past season for the Saints with two years left on his contract. Entering the prime of his career ahead of the 2018 World Cup, Yoshida wants to be at a club where he can get regular playing time.
"I'm reaching the best age for a footballer. I need to be playing as many games as possible," Yoshida said.
