Dutch international Rick Van den Hurk, who last month set a Japan record for the most consecutive winning decisions at the start of his career, was deactivated by the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks due to fatigue on Wednesday.

The move came a day after he allowed eight hits — his most in Nippon Professional Baseball — in five innings in an interleague game against the Central League's Chunichi Dragons. On May 17, Van den Hurk saw his streak of 14 straight winning decisions snapped when he allowed seven runs in a game against Pacific League rival Hokkaido Nippon Ham.

"I didn't have a good feeling watching him pitch recently," Hawks skipper Kimiyasu Kudo said. "When we talked, he told me he had some fatigue."

Van den Hurk joined the Hawks last season after winning the ERA title in the Korean Baseball Organization in 2014. In NPB, the 31-year-old right-hander has a 15-1 record with a 2.89 ERA.
