The Orix Buffaloes have signed former Chunichi Dragon Matt Clark, the Pacific League club announced Tuesday.

The 196-cm, left-handed first baseman batted .238 with 25 home runs and 70 RBIs for Chunichi in the Central League in 2013, his only season in Japan.

The Buffaloes were last in runs in the Pacific League going into Tuesday's games, having scored 118 runs in 37 games, some 53 less than the second-lowest Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks (171), while playing the same number of games.

"We're midway through a season so it's better to have someone with experience in Japan than not," Orix deputy general manager Shosaku Yokota said. "I'm looking forward to his slugging ability."

The 29-year-old Clark made his major league debut with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2014 and hit three home runs in 16 games. He had been playing in Mexico this season.
