WBO super flyweight champion Naoya Inoue retained his title for the second time with a unanimous decision against top-ranked Mexican David Carmona on Sunday.

Earlier on a victorious night for Japanese boxers, Akira Yaegashi successfully defended his IBF light flyweight belt for the first time with a 2-1 decision against Mexican challenger Martin Tecuapetla in the first bout of the world title doubleheader at Tokyo's Ariake Colosseum.

The 33-year-old Yaegashi, who conquered his third weight class in December, came through a tough start but deployed body blows to stop Tecuapetla's momentum in the third round.
