Japan defender Yuto Nagatomo will sign a three-year contract extension with Inter Milan worth €3.5 million ($4.0 million) per year in the coming days, a source close to the matter said Thursday.

The 29-year-old is in his sixth season with Inter after joining from Cesena in February 2011. Clubs in England and Germany were showing interest with his current contract expiring in the summer.

Nagatomo has repeatedly voiced his desire to remain at Inter and was reported in March to have turned down approaches from Liverpool and Manchester United.
