Japan Football Association president Kuniya Daini said Friday that he is mulling the possibility of nominating recently retired former Women's World Player of the Year Homare Sawa for FIFA's new council.

At least one female representative will be selected from each confederation in the new council.

"That's more than possible and we'll think about that," Daini said.

He didn't reveal whom he voted for at the election after Asian Football Confederation president Sheikh Salman fell short, but vowed to work hand in hand with new president Gianni Infantino.

"This is the result of the voting from the world. I would like to respect that and cooperate," he said.
