Taku Takeuchi produced his first podium finish in more than two years, finishing third at a ski jumping World Cup event on Sunday.

Takeuchi netted 229.9 points after soaring to 96 meters on his first attempt and 95.5 on his second. Michael Hayboeck of Austria won with 241.4 points while Takeuchi's Japanese compatriot, Noriaki Kasai, was 16th on 220.4.

It was the first time Takeuchi finished in the top three since December 2013.

"I feel great," the 28-year-old Takeuchi said. "My jumps have been becoming more consistent as of late. I kept my cool in the second jump even when the conditions were getting bad. It was clear to me what I needed to do."
