Fifteen-year-old Rikako Ikee broke the national women's 50-meter freestyle record on Saturday on the first day of the Konami Open, while Sakiko Shimizu also set a national mark in the women's 400-meter individual medley.

Ikee clocked 24.74 seconds at Tatsumi International Swimming Center, shaving 0.21 second off Miki Uchida's record, set at the same pool in an October World Cup meet. At that event, Ikee won gold medals in the 50- and 100-meter butterfly and the 100 freestyle.

Shimizu, 23, logged 4 minutes, 35.04 seconds to better Miho Takahashi's previous record of 4:35.69.
