Russian pairs sidelined with injuries

Two-time European pairs silver medalists Ksenia Stolbova and Fedor Klimov were on Monday ruled out of the European Championships because of injury.

Russian skating federation chief Alexander Kogan said Klimov hurt his shoulder in practice, but that the Grand Prix Final winners should be fit for the world championships in Boston in March.

In related news, Russia’s reigning European champions Yuko Kawaguchi and Alexander Smirnov have been ruled out for the season after Kawaguchi sustained a ruptured tendon in her leg.
