Free agent infielder Munenori Kawasaki has agreed to a minor league deal with the Chicago Cubs, according to U.S. media reports on Thursday.

It will be the third major club for the 34-year-old Kawasaki after stints with the Seattle Mariners and the Toronto Blue Jays.

Kawasaki, who joined the Mariners on a minor league deal in 2012, was a fan favorite in Toronto known for his colorful personality.

He was promoted several times to the majors and with Toronto last season he played in 23 games, posting a .214 batting average with six hits in 28 at-bats.
