Japan international striker Mu Kanazaki will return to Portuguese second-division club Portimonense after spending last season on loan in the J. League top flight with Kashima Antlers, Portimonense said Thursday.

Portimonense said it had received offers for the 26-year-old's services from several clubs both in Japan and Europe.

Kanazaki had an excellent season with Kashima last year, scoring nine goals in 27 league appearances. He also helped Antlers win the Nabisco Cup for a record sixth time, scoring in a 3-0 win over Gamba Osaka.

Kanazaki won his first Japan call-up in five years and opened his national team account in a 3-0 win away to Singapore in November in the second round of Asian qualifying for the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia.
