The Chunichi Dragons parted company with Hector Luna on Tuesday, when the 35-year-old first baseman was left off the Central League club's reserve list.
In three seasons with the Dragons, Luna batted .316 with 34 home runs. He scored 187 runs and drove in 184. He won the CL's Best NineAward at third base in 2014.
The club also announced the acquisition of three new foreign players on one-year deals: 26-year-old outfielder Dayan Viciedo, and 28-year-old pitchers Juan Jaime and Jordan Norberto.
The 185-cm, 108-kg Viciedo has hit 66 home runs in 483 major league games for the Chicago White Sox. Viciedo bounced around Triple-A in 2015 for three different organizations. A third baseman in Cuba, Viciedo played first base and the corner outfield positions in the majors.
Jaime, who has 18 big league games under his belt for the Atlanta Braves, is a reliever with a fastball in the mid-150s kph. Norberto, who features a good two-seam fastball and a changeup, has pitched 78 games in the majors, the last in 2012.
Viciedo's contract is estimated at ¥170 million ($1.4 million), while Jaime and Norberto have reportedly signed for ¥30 million each.
