San Francisco Giants outfielder Norichika Aoki said Monday it was great to be back as he resumed batting practice after a spell away from the team due to health issues.

"It (practice) felt great. I knew there would be no problem and I have taken a step forward," he said.

Aoki had been away from the team after suffering post-concussion symptoms related to a pitch that hit him on the head on Aug. 9.

Aoki, whose last game was on Sept. 3, said he is scheduled to see a specialist this week and is looking to get some playing time under his belt if he gets the all-clear.

However, the Giants' chances of making the post season appear remote and with the regular season finishing on Oct. 4, manager Bruce Bochy said he did not think Aoki would play again this year.
