San Francisco Giants outfielder Norichika Aoki may be activated as early as Friday after playing a game in the minors, his first in over a month, on Tuesday.

Aoki, who was placed on the disabled list with a fractured right fibula by San Francisco on June 24 after being hit by a pitch a few days earlier, played five innings as scheduled for the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats against El Paso Chihuahuas.

He singled on a ground ball to second in a 1-for-3 outing. El Paso won the game 6-3.

The Giants will be at home against the Oakland A's this weekend. Aoki is in a virtual tie for the team lead in batting average (.317) and on-base percentage (.383) with former National League MVP Buster Posey.
