Standard Liege forward Yuji Ono is joining newly promoted Sint-Truiden in the Belgian first division, the player's official website announced Tuesday, while his former club teammate and Japan goalkeeper Eiji Kawashima is set to train at Italian Serie B side Novara.

The 22-year-old Ono joined Standard in 2013 after scoring nine goals in 79 appearances for Yokohama F. Marinos, but missed the entire 2013-2014 season after rupturing a left knee ligament. He made 27 appearances last season, scoring one goal.

"I'll try hard at my new club, so good news is sent to Japan," the agile forward said.

Ono is set to wear No. 25 shirt at Sint-Truiden. The side is returning to the top flight after a three-season absence.

Kawashima, who didn't renew his contract at Standard, is looking for a new club in Europe over the summer. He will train at Novara but is unlikely to join the side due to the Italian second division's strict foreign-player quota.

"I'd like to keep myself fit and it is pleasing that Novara accepted me. I wanted to train with a team and I was looking for one in Italy," said the 32-year-old.
