Socceroos striker Nathan Burns has admitted he has a tough act to follow but hopes his arrival at FC Tokyo from Wellington Phoenix will help fill the void left by the departure of golden boy Yoshinori Muto to Bundesliga club Mainz.

Burns came off the bench to make his debut for Tokyo on Saturday but the 2014-15 Australian A-League Player of the Year was unable to prevent the Gasmen from falling to a 2-0 defeat away to Kawasaki Frontale as the second stage of the J. League kicked off.

"Obviously it's big shoes to fill. He (Muto) is a quality Japanese player and one of the best, and all I can offer is 100 percent of my commitment," Burns told Kyodo News after Saturday's defeat.
