Iconic striker Kazuyoshi Miura renewed his own record as the J. League's oldest scorer by hitting the winner for Yokohama FC on Sunday.
"King Kazu" came on with 12 minutes remaining against Mito HollyHock in the J. League second-division game, and found the net three minutes into stoppage time at the age of 48 years, four months and two days. It was his third goal of the season.
Returning from a right thigh injury that had sidelined him for 10 games since April 26, Miura prodded home with his weaker left foot inside the six-yard box to hand his side all three points after the goalkeeper spilled a long-range strike.
Brazilian legend Zico holds the record as the oldest scorer in the first division at 41 years, three months, 12 days — set in 1994 with Kashima Antlers.
