Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon said Friday that lefty Tsuyoshi Wada will not make his start as scheduled against the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday.

Wada is still nursing a sore left shoulder that caused him to be pulled from his start against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday in just the third inning.

Maddon said there were "no alarms going off" regarding Wada's shoulder but admitted the pitcher was not 100 percent.

"The thing about Wada is that we're still not 100-percent sure where that is right now — I don't know how bad he is," Maddon was quoted as saying on the Cubs official website.

"He's doing better. It's not awful. We're just concerned that it's not progressing to the point where we have a definite answer."

Wada did play catch on Friday at Busch Stadium.

Minor-leaguer Donn Roach will be called up to make the start on Saturday.
