Fourteen-year-old amateur Suzuka Yamaguchi secured a spot at the U.S. Women's Open on Monday after finishing tied for second in the final Japanese qualifier.

Yamaguchi shot a 69 and a 66 in the 36-hole stroke play event at Arima Royal Golf Club in Kobe for a 9-under-par 135 total, three shots behind top qualifier Ai Suzuki.

"I was able to play my aggressive game," said Yamaguchi, who according to the Japan LPGA is the youngest Japanese ever to qualify for the tournament. "My goal is to make the cut."
