J. League first-division side Ventforet Kofu have fired manager Yasuhiro Higuchi and named general manager Satoru Sakuma to take over, the club announced Wednesday.

Ventforet are last in J1 with just six points in 11 games under Higuchi, who joined the club this season after leaving Yokohama F. Marinos. The team said it has voided Higuchi's contract.

Higuchi formerly managed Omiya Ardija and served as interim boss at Ventforet in 2011.
