Japan Football Association vice president Kozo Tashima is confident he can finally win a seat on the FIFA executive committee at Thursday's Asian Football Confederation Congress.

Four years ago, Tashima failed in his bid to succeed compatriot and former JFA president Junji Ogura on the FIFA ex-co, falling short of the needed majority with just 19 of 46 votes from the AFC member nations.

Tashima admitted he did not know what he was getting into back then, jumping into a complex landscape where the usual rules do not necessarily apply.
