The Boston Red Sox will activate closer Koji Uehara from the disabled list, manager John Farrell said Sunday.

Uehara has been on the 15-day disabled list. The 40-year-old right-hander has been rehabbing from a hamstring strain that felled him on March 17. Uehara pitched one inning for the Single-A Greenville Drive on Saturday, allowing a run on three hits.

The pitcher gave up a double on a cut fastball called by Greenville catcher Ben Moore, according to a story in Greenville Online.

"He (Uehara) told me no more cutters after that one," said Moore. "It was a thrill catching him. His splitter is filthy."

Farrell said he would join the Sox in Boston and would be available to close in the team's home opener on Monday.
