Asami Kato produced a personal-best time to win the women's race at the Rotterdam Marathon, pulling away after the 25-km point on Sunday.

Kato, 24, cut the tape in 2 hours, 26 minutes, 30 seconds for her first win in the race. It was her first marathon title since winning the Gold Coast Marathon last July.

She is the fourth Japanese runner to win the Rotterdam Marathon following Hiromi Ominami in 2007.

Ethiopia's Abera Kuma ran uncontested in the latter part of the men's race to win in 2:06:47.
