Japanese treble winners Gamba Osaka picked up their first point in Group F in the Asian Champions League after a 1-1 draw at home to Thailand's Buriram United on Wednesday night.

Hiroyuki Abe gave Gamba the lead in the 39th minute, but Kenta Hasegawa's men had to make do with a share of the spoils after a superb equalizer from Theerathon Bunmathan midway through the second half preserved Buriram's unbeaten start after three games played.

"We had control of the game in the first half and if we had got another goal I think the result would have been different," said Gamba coach Hasegawa.
