Ayana Onozuka claimed her first championship on the World Cup circuit after winning a women's freestyle halfpipe competition in Park City, Utah, on Saturday.

Onozuka scored 83.60 points in the final for the top podium spot ahead of Germany's Sabrina Cakmakli (79.80) and Janina Kuzma of New Zealand (74.40), who finished second and third, respectively.

"I am simply really happy. I was in good form since practice," said the 26-year-old Onozuka. "I was nervous but the run (on the snow's surface) was fast and it suited me. I attacked and was able to give it all of my power."
