The 2019 Asian Cup will be held in the United Arab Emirates, sources have told Kyodo News.
The United Arab Emirates would host Asia's flagship competition for a second time, the first since 1996. An official announcement by the Asian Football Confederation is set for this spring.
The tournament will be expanded from 16 teams to 24 in 2019.
The United Arab Emirates on Friday reached its third semifinal by shocking defending champion Japan 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in 120 minutes. UAE has never won the continental championship.
