Sagan Tosu said Tuesday hired former Jubilo Iwata boss Hitoshi Morishita as their new manager, the J. League first-division team announced on Tuesday.
"I believe Tosu is the most modest and hard-working club in Japan," Morishita said in a statement released by the team. "I want to get as much as possible out of this same style in every way."
In August, the club dismissed manager Yoon Jung-hwan while Sagan was leading the league. Megumu Yoshida succeeded Yoon and oversaw the club's fifth-place finish.
Hiroshi Jofuku, who was in his final season with Ventforet Kofu, was among the candidates to take over the Kyushu-based Sagan. But the club eventually settled on Morishita. The 42-year-old Morishita managed Jubilo in 2012 and part of 2013. This past season he was a coach with Kyoto.
