Gamba Osaka completed a remarkable trophy treble by beating Montedio Yamagata 3-1 to lift the Emperor's Cup on Saturday.
First-half goals from Takashi Usami and Patric gave J. League and Nabisco Cup champions Gamba an explosive start at Nissan Stadium, before Romero Frank pulled a goal back for second-division Montedio in the 62nd minute.
But Usami struck again in the 85th minute to secure Gamba's third piece of silverware from an astonishing season that saw them mired in the relegation zone during the World Cup break before roaring back to win 15 of their last 20 league games.
