While the J. League title race has boiled down to three teams — Gamba Osaka, Urawa Reds and Kashima Antlers — it will take a miracle of serious proportions for Gamba to not win the league.

The J. League is used to crowning its champions on the final weekend like last season, when Yokohama F. Marinos lost to hand the title to Sanfrecce Hiroshima by a single point.

Or in 2007, when Urawa Reds were famously beaten by relegated Yokohama FC, allowing Kashima Antlers to end up first. Two years before that, Gamba overtook derby rival Cerezo at the wire for their first championship after Cerezo allowed a last-minute equalizer at home and were held to a draw by FC Tokyo.
